Donald Glovermay be a household name, but his younger brother,Stephen Glover, has also made a name for himself in the entertainment business.
TheCommunityalum started collaborating with his younger brother early on in their careers, and the award-winning results speak for themselves.
“We don’t fight a lot,” Stephen once told Cyan Taylor atThe Daily 411. “A lot of people ask why. I guess they expect brothers to fight, but we got a good understanding of each other. I understand that Donald knows what he’s doing and he trusts me too. … We know what we both bring to the table. We both know if we both feel good about something then it is going to be good.”

In a 2018 interview withStephen ColbertonThe Late Show,theAtlantastar opened up about his upbringing.
“I was raised Jehovah’s Witness,” he told the late night host. “I didn’t have a lot of things growing up. … I was always taught the world was kind of a bad place, so whenever things came in I’d be like, ‘Yo, this is really dope.’ ”

Despite his current creative endeavors, Stephen actually started off his higher education in STEM. According to a 2022Complexinterview, he enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology to study chemical engineering, but he soon realized that it wasn’t the right path for him.
“I realized, ‘Oh, just because I can do math doesn’t mean I want to spend my life doing it or working on problems in this way,’ ” he told the outlet.

After a few years of doing odd jobs around Atlanta, Stephen moved to Los Angeles to live with his older brother.
Atlantawas Stephen’s first screenwriting job, and the second episode was Stephen’s first script ever.
At the time, Donald knew he was up for the task, and he even gave his brother someAmerican Dadscripts so he could gain a better understanding of structure and format.
“He was like, ‘The only thing you need to know is the format for scripts and the technical things. As far as the mind for it, you’ve got it,’ ” Stephen recalled toComplex.

Stephen is actually the voice behindAtlanta’sunofficial theme song “Paper Boi.” In a 2016 interview withThe Fader,Stephen revealed they were originally going to call the song “White Boi.”
“Then we realized we couldn’t use ‘White Boi’ because there might actually be a rapper named White Boi. So we’re like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna call this guy Paper Boi.’ It still works: ‘Paper Boi, Paper Boi, all about that paper, boi,’ that double entendre-, triple entendre-type thing,” he said. “That’s how it started.”

In September, Lucasfilm confirmed toVariety, however,that the project is now being developed as a film instead.

“First of all, we believe if it is funny to us, it will be funny to everybody,” Stephen toldThe Daily 411.“That is what I always tell him. If we laugh at it, then everybody else will laugh at it. So we kind of are just always bouncing ideas off each other, making each other laugh or just saying, ‘What if this happened?’ … Even after we’ll come up with ideas for episodes and things like that, we will come back together later when we’re hanging out like, ‘What do you think about this?’ ”
He added: “We’re just constantly gauging each other’s reaction to it. Then, if we both like it, then it’s good.”

Kanye Westhad been an influential figure in the development ofAtlanta.

Donald expressed a similar sentiment in an interview withIndieWire.When asked aboutAtlanta’sthird season, he answered: “I feel like this is ourGraduation. This is probably our most accessible but also the realest — an honest version of it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album.”
Stephen and Donald are no strangers to criticism

After season 3 ofAtlantaaired, fans and critics had a lot to say. OneWashington Postcritic wrote a story titled “WhyAtlantaSeason 3 Was Such a Letdown,”which called the latest season “frustratingly uneven.”New YorkMagazinecritics, meanwhile, expressed similar sentiments.
The sibling pair have taken the criticism in stride.
“Yeah, I know [season three] is polarizing, it seems — I didn’t expect it to besopolarizing, but I think that’s probably the best thing you can hope for now,” Stephen toldGQin 2022. “Not like in aLauren Boebertway of just saying something stupid and then two sides fight about it. But I think when things are challenging or thought-provoking, there’s going to be a conversation and I think that’s the best thing we could have hoped for, in my opinion.”
