Abigail Breslinleads a star-studded cast in the upcoming crime thrillerMiranda’s Victim.

“Her assailant, Ernesto Miranda (Sebastian Quinn), confesses without legal representation and serves a two-year sentence, only to have the verdict later overturned,” an official synopsis reads.

It continues, “In the resulting retrial, a determined prosecutor (Luke Wilson) seeks to hold Ernesto accountable for his crimes, despite grueling opposition from Ernesto’s defense attorney (Ryan Phillippe).”

“What follows is a legal proceeding that forever changes the nation’s justice system,” the synopsis concludes.

Judge Laurance T. Wren (Sutherland, 88) tells the defendant, “Mr. Miranda, our justice system has afforded you every privilege, every protection.”

“This is a courtesy not extended to your victim,” he adds.

Deadlineannounced the film — whose plot serves as a preamble to the establishment of the Miranda rights — was in production under Vertical last month, with Danner telling the outlet in a statement thatMiranda’s Victim"is a story about courage and justice."

“Within the court of law, it was a case of personal justice, but what makes it fascinating is that it ends up becoming iconic justice,” the director added.

Miranda’s Victimis in theaters and on demand Oct. 6.
