Scientists have institute an unbelievable Modern particle that ’s part of the exotic family of tetraquarks . Tetraquarks are made of four quark , which makes them quite unequalled . Most particle in nature are made by either three quarks ( like protons and neutrons )   or just two .

The speck , called X(5568 ) , was discovered thanks to Fermilab ’s Tevatron atom accelerator . It has a heap of almost six proton and it is the first tetraquark to be made by four   dissimilar type of quarks . A paper with the results is available onarXiv .

" At first , we did n’t believe it was a fresh particle , " said DZero co - spokesperson Dmitri Denisov in astatement . " Only after we performed multiple cross - check did we start to believe that the signal we hear could not be explained by backgrounds or hump process , but was grounds of a young speck . "

There are six eccentric , or flavors , of quarks :   Up and Down ( which make up protons and neutron ) , charm and unknown , and top and bottom . Each of them has its own antimatter equivalent , and the combinations of these 12 fundamental speck give raise to hundreds of new atom .

These combinations , called heavy particle , commonly   come in two mannikin :   hadron ( with three quarks ) or mesons ( a quark and an antiquark ) . A few candidates for tetraquarks have been observed in the last few years , and last summertime CERN evendiscovered a pentaquark , a five - quark particle . Quarks can not be found in a rum state .

Tetraquarks are not found in nature and the first prospect was only put forward eight   years ago .
