Here ’s a flash - forward , featuring at sea producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse talking about the show ’s 4th season from a few years in the future , after their fans have turn on them and rout Lindelof ’s eye out . They showed this hilarious featurette as part of an online group discussion promoting the show ’s season - four DVD , which will admit all of the season ’s flash - forward in linear form as an extra . The producers also spelled out a bit more of what to expect in season five .
Another DVD featurette we got to see was a conspiracy - possibility faux documentary film about the Oceanic Six and the unlikeliness of their official taradiddle being unfeigned . The nature of the sheet clangor , the place where it allegedly crashed and the island they allegedly touch are all counter to the laws of purgative . And then there ’s the matter where they did n’t starve , and Kate ’s theorize pregnancy .
And then Cuse and Lindelof answer some question . Lindelof said Lost is made to be watched on DVD because of all the easter bollock , and “ they ’re almost contrive for repeat viewing … I sometimes remember about how frustrating it would ’ve been to take the Harry Potter books ONE CHAPTER AT A TIME once a calendar week . I ’d fairly much kill myself . ”

I asked if the 4th time of year will have an obvious break , way - wise , between the pre - smasher and post - strike episodes when you watch the whole matter in one of two sittings . Lindelof replied :
Hopefully not … The fact of the issue is that we designed out — at least just about — the entire sixteen installment time of year … planting fleur-de-lis as to what would happen where in the rarefied scheme of things . In that original pattern , there were a couple of instalment focusing more on the Freighter Folks ( Faraday , Miles and Charlotte ) that got pushed into this time of year , but more importantly , thing like Jack ’s appendicitis and Keamy arriving at New Otherton and kill Alex happened rather than we had be after due to the founder schedule . I remember if there ’s a sentience of detachment between the first eight episodes ( stop with “ Meet Kevin Johnson ” ) and the final six hour , it ’s that the story is really move at a much gamy charge per unit of speed than we ’re traditionally accustomed to .
And there ’s good news for those of us who do n’t require to see the Oceanic Six separated from the rest period of the show ’s roll for an entire time of year . Lindelof wrote :

We ’re concerned , too ! I call back everyone , writers and fans likewise , feels the show is at its effective when our theatrical role are together … but the fact of the topic is that the story is forever twisting and turning to keep them aside . Let ’s confront it — Absence makes the heart grow fonder … but there ’s nothing sweeter than a reunion . All we ’re unforced to say at this point is that if we were to spend the total duration of Season Five with the Oceanic Six try out to get back to the island , we are to the full aware that the interview would repress us .
Also , more good news : Cuse says the 17 - sequence seasons think of there will be no “ stall episodes , ” and the show will just speed ahead every workweek .
Meanwhile , Cuse said the show tries to leap the shark all the time . And Lindelof said the fact that the hearing was so open to flash - forwards in time of year four has inspired the producers to get even more bold in season five . “ The cool affair about Season Five is that it takes a little while for your brain to fully absorb how the story is unfolding … but hopefully , once it does , you ’ll take in we ’re trying something new yet again . ” Also , there will be flash - backs and flash bulb - forwards , but the show is n’t limiting itself to those any more .

Also , the reapearance of Christian Shepherd in season four decidedly ties into the empty coffin Jack discover in season one . And it ’s “ secure to say ” we ’ll be seeing more of Christian in season five . “ And what ’s up with those blanched lawn tennis shoes he was wearing back in season one ? ” teased Lindelof . Also , he said Claire may not actually be dead . We ’ll get more backstory on Walt and Rousseau , but Libby ’s story may be already over . And we ’ll see more of the four - toed statue , for certain . The show will be in “ response mode ” by the ending of season five , and move into time of year six .
Also , the scene between Jack and Locke , in the glasshouse at the ending of the season , is a pivotal one , says Lindelof .
Obviously , the ramifications of Locke telling Jack ( once again ) that he ’s not supposed to leave the island … but if he does , he must LIE about everything that pass … is fundamentally what kicks off the full account of the Oceanic Six . We remember its really cool that it was actually Locke ’s idea , even though Jack does n’t present it that way . And now that Jack is stand over Locke ’s coffin , the relationship between these two men becomes really fundamental to the end game of our story .

Meanwhile , Lindelof says it ’s liberate that the show is n’t trying to hide its fantasy / scifi elements any more — but adds that it ’ll keep evolve and exploring the inquiry of science versus faith . He points to The Stand , which starts with an epidemic that kill 99 percent of the domain ’s universe and then slowly becomes more mystical until the manus of God appears at the death .
