10 Things We’re Sad Won’t Be at Comic-Con This Year

San Diego Comic - Con 2024 kicks off tomorrow night and while there areplenty of big , exciting panel and event taking topographic point , we ca n’t help but be bummed that a few very obvious players are n’t going to be in attending . Here are the 10 films , shows , or companies we were really hoping would be in San Diego this week , but are not .

Superman and the DC Universe

Supermanwriter and director James Gunn was very open with fans that neither he , nor his film , nor the DC Universe at bombastic , would be at Comic - Con this year . The main grounds ? He ’s still makingSuperman . Nevertheless , we were still kind of hop he was lying — but Gunn does n’t do that . We ’ll have to wait until next year , afterSupermancomes out , to hopefully see if Gunn brings some more intelligence on the future of DC .

Warner Bros.

In the golden age of Comic - Con , Saturday would be bookended by Warner Bros. doing a massive panel and then Marvel Studios doing a massive instrument panel . Marvel is back this year , but not Warner Bros , which is a little left considering in the next few months it has a short ton of huge geek titles come out : Beetlejuice , Beetlejuice ; Joker : Folie à Deux ; Mickey 17 ; the Ryan Coogler / Michael B. Jordan vampire moving-picture show ; theLord of the Ringsanimated movie;Minecraft;and more . Maybe a panel was too expensive . mayhap the studio did n’t want anyone to expectSuperman . Whatever the caseful , WB will be overleap .

Spider-Man Universe

It ’s not even deserving asking for an update on the next Tom Holland Spider - Man moving picture but there are , in fact , TWOSpider - Manspinoffs initiative before the end of the year . There’sKraven the Hunter , a movie that exists , andVenom : The Last Dance . Both of those seems pretty smear on for Comic - Con , correct ? And yet ? Crickets .

Severance

While Apple TV+ is bringingSiloto Comic - Con , it ’s not bring its even more popular sci - fi show , Severance . Which is weird because afterSeverancecame out in 2022,Apple spent a horseshit cargo of money on an incredibleSeveranceinstallation that was beloved by all . Now you do n’t even have a gore with the second season at last coming out ?

Jurassic World

This time next class , the fourthJurassic Worldfilm organise by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson will be in field of operations . mayhap . It seems pretty challenging for a big outcome picture show that has n’t started shooting yet . Still , if that ’s at least the target , Comic - Con would ’ve been a great place to get the plaster bandage together and talk a bit about what ’s next for the dealership that was assumed to be finished .

Evil

It ’s tempting to blame dark force forEvilnot having a presence at San Diego Comic - Con this year . As Paramount+ ’s attain horror show heads into the oddment of its final time of year , we ’d hoped for one last SDCC appearance to bid leave to Mike Colter , Katja Herbers , and the rest of the cast . possibly there ’ll be a demonic miracle and the show will get a revitalisation , and we ’ll get another chance ? – Cheryl Eddy

Universal has already plump pretty huge onWicked . There was a Super Bowl spot almost a year out . A massive CinemaCon presence . But now , nothing at Comic - Con . The Wizard of Oz - adjacent , massively democratic musical scene right in with the Comic - Con gang and a panel , maybe showing a birdcall from the movie , would ’ve been one of the top two or three bighearted - ticket items of the weekend . Alas , it was n’t signify to be .

Star Wars

We have it off . Disney has the D23 Expo in just a few hebdomad and that ’s where we ’ll see more about what ’s coming in theStar Warsuniverse , especially the next showSkeleton Crew .
